Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "The best house among the Muslims is one where an
orphan is well treated, and the worst house among the Muslims is one where an orphan
is badly treated."
The Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG) is a non-profit organization engaged in sustainable development and relief assistance programs.
CIOG envisages socio-economic development aiming at the provision of opportunities for self-reliance and human dignity. It believes that community-based development is the most effective instrument to address the expressed problems of the communities.
Conceives provision of relief assistance primarily as an integral part of its mandate in meeting the emergency needs of the destitute and essential in addressing their immediate needs and critical in sustaining them.
CIOG collaborates with organizations engaged in providing relief assistance in the form of food, clothing, shelter, health and educational services and implementation of sustainable development projects.
However, the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Department of the CIOG has engaged in and sought to mitigate and reduce the impact of poverty on Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Guyana by providing direct material support and education to the beneficiaries.
Some of the assistance includes:
· Examination Fees, Spectacles, Eid Gifts, Back to School packages, Medical Assistance, Lesson fees, Transportation and School fees
Some of the activities of the Orphans and Vulnerable children Department are:
· Annual Orphans Fun Day, Camp, Tours, Feeding Programs, Literacy Programs
