The Dawah and Education Department of the Central Islamic Organisaion of Guyana (ClOG) is responsible for the preservation and promotion of Islam among the Muslim and Non-Muslim communities in Guyana and elsewhere, utilizing the material and human resources provided by the Creator, ClOG and our Sponsors.
This task is performed with wisdom and good speech and respecting the humanity of every person irrespective of race or religion.
This department has been instrumental in promoting the beliefs and practices of the Ahlus-Sunna Wal Jamaa’ah and continues to support every effort in this regard.
The Education department continues to provide materials and personnel to various government and non-government agencies. Oral and written presentations including press releases on various topical issues such as AIDS, Domestic Violence, Terrorism, Substance Abuse, Trafficking in Persons and Human Disability are issued.
In addition, several hundred copies of the Translation of the Holy Qur’an and other Islamic Books including “How to perform Salaah”, Surah Yaseen, “Ayatul Kursi, “Words of Wisdom” Prophet Muhammad (SAS) among others are distributed. Additionally, ClOG’s education department hosts a weekly television program (INSIGHTS) in Georgetown and Berbice.
The ClOG Education and Dawah department has 19 Dawah workers including 3 brothers who returned from a one year intensive program at Al Madina Institute, South Africa. Imams and Madrasa teachers, who conduct classes, deliver Khutbas and attend to the spiritual/educational needs of the community.
Missionaries are involved in several activities which benefit the community such as ensuring all rights of the deceased are observed, performing marriages and other social functions and are tasked with representing the Islamic Community at various meetings and providing the Islamic opinions on the related issues.
